Pool Trust
A Pooled Income Trust is a unique type of trust operated by a federally approved 501(c)(3) that allows disabled individuals of any age to preserve their income and assets, so that they may become or retain financial eligibility for public benefits such as Medicaid Home Care.
Under current New York Medical law, income in excess of the monthly Medicaid allowance must first be spent down on home care or medical expenses prior to receiving Medicaid coverage. Unfortunately, the guidelines do not exempt living expenses, such as rent, food, clothes, or utility services when calculating an applicant’s excess income. As a result, Medicaid recipients may not have a sufficient amount of funds to maintain their standard monthly living expenses.
Per state and federal regulations, any disabled individual that deposits their monthly excess income into a Pooled Income Trust will not be subject to rules that regularly apply to monthly excess income. The deposited income will therefore not be counted as available income required to be spent on medical expenses.
By establishing a Pooled Income Trust, the beneficiary obtains the benefit of having their monthly income available to them to pay for their living expenses without contributing to the cost of their medical care.

General Questions
We are the community of therapists who meet you at home and guide you at all times. The trusted name for home care providers, physicians, rehabilitation facilities and families, Stern at Home Therapy is where therapists love to belong and patients love to improve.
Stern at Home Therapy originates from a larger agenda than its focused priorities of today. During its infancy, the founders at Stern created comprehensive outpatient services for seniors. One of the very early believers of personal care programs, Stern truly listened to his patients and their families. More than a service provider, he became a family name.
A widespread challenge for patients was the commute and scheduling of ambulatory services to get to appointments. When inquiring about patient distress, the team at Stern made note of every concern and difficulty. They realized that more patients were negligent in their care because it was too difficult for them to come to the facility.
So Stern came home and continues to do so for many years, and counting.
While Stern at Home Therapy has become a treasure trove of white gloved care, the entire spectrum of geriatric health remains available for our patients to this very day. Although our mission is completely focused and driven by the reversal of obligation and convenience of care, our patients know we are always about helping with the bigger picture.
Our mission is to provide superlative levels of patient therapy in the comfort of home. To support our mission, we emphasize on the compatibility of the very best in patient care, staff potential and partner value.
- Our patients: The antidote to ordinary therapy, our strategy focuses on improved performance and comfort throughout each custom therapy regimen.
- Our therapists: The very leaders of our vision, we place great emphasis on encouragement and comprehensive resources to influence the progress that our therapists provide.
- Our partners: The strategic enforcement of our practices ensure that every partner, medical associate and department is met with financial acuity and dependability of resources, revenue and commitment.
